Thief jailed

A 34-year-old man will spend 240 days in prison for steal­ing com­put­ers, cam­eras and money from a com­mu­nity cen­tre in Ash­ford.

John Paul Given, of Church Road, Sheer­ness, pleaded guilty to en­ter­ing the cen­tre in Can­ter­bury Road between May 30 and June 1, as a tres­passer and steal­ing two lap­tops, five dig­i­tal cam­eras and cash worth £790.

He also ad­mit­ted steal­ing train­ers and a bag worth £65 from a shop in Eureka Park on May 31.

Med­way mag­is­trates sen­tenced him for two counts of bur­glary and an­other two counts of fail­ing to sur­ren­der to po­lice.
