A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We received a call at 3.44pm on August 15 from someone who reported that they could see two men shooting birds and ducks at Singleton Lake, in Bucksford Lane, near Ashford.
“The person who rang didn’t see any weapons but heard ‘cracking sounds.’ Apparently fishermen at the lake said the men were shooting at pigeons.
“Another witness saw a catapult and what may have been an air rifle allegedly hidden under one of the men’s clothing.
“A description of the men varies from teens to early 20s.
“Police attended and conducted a search of the lakes and surrounding area but the individuals weren’t found and no dead birds or other wildlife were found.”
