Roundabout ‘coffins’ removed
One of the venues suggested by Mr Lester to house a landmark sculpture is the busy roundabout outside the Ashford Designer Outlet.
For years the roundabout in Romney Marsh Road has been home to 12 sculptures, often referred to by residents as ‘coffins’ because of their similarity to burial pieces.
But the McArthurGlen centre is currently in the process of taking over the responsibility for the roundabout from Kent County Council and plans to transform its look.
Workmen have removed the ‘coffins’ and they will be replaced with a new landscaping layout.
David Maddison, the Outlet manager, has previously said the idea is to: “Transform the roundabout into a beautiful, landscaped garden.”
