Borough council doesn’t need a CEO
In 2012, after the debacle of CEO Katherine Kersell’s departure from Kent County Council, it was decided by Paul Carter, the KCC leader, to remove the post of CEO.
He stated that the move would save a large amount of taxpayers’ money.
KCC has a yearly budget of £2.15 billion and feels that it can manage without a CEO.
Ashford Borough Council’s (ABC) budget is considerably less, but feels that it needs a CEO, plus a deputy. It is hard to see the reason why.
If ABC removed both positions then the savings realised could be used to provide better services across the board.
