Fifty years after leaving Ashford Girls Grammar School, former pupils met up for a reunion lunch at The Singleton Environment Centre in Ashford.

Twenty-one ex-pupils who started at the school in 1959 came from as far afield as Northumberland, Cambridge and Oxfordshire to meet up at the centre’s Footprints cafe on Thursday, August 14.

Organiser Shelagh Diplock said: “We were joined by two former teachers, Mrs Hawkes and Miss Buckley.

“We held a previous reunion when we were in our forties but now we are 66 we thought it was a good time to meet again while we are ‘in our prime’ and before we start going downhill.”
