Fam­ily escape fire un­hurt

A fam­ily had a lucky escape early on Bank Hol­i­day Mon­day af­ter fire ripped through a bed­room at their home.

Fire crews were called to the house in Sun­ley Gar­dens, God­mer­sham, at 6.50am to re­ports of a blaze in the bed­room.

But the fam­ily of four – three chil­dren and their mother – es­caped un­harmed.

Two crews from Ash­ford and Can­ter­bury at­tended the fire for around an hour.

Ash­ford crew man­ager Neil Jones said: “The bed­room fire in God­mer­sham was at­tended by two pumps – one from Ash­ford and one from Can­ter­bury.

“The bed­room was com­pletely de­stroyed. A mum and her three kids got out and called us. We were there for around an hour.

“The prop­erty had smoke alarms fit­ted which helped raise the alarm.”0
