Booze thieves strike at a string of stores

Su­per­mar­kets in Ash­ford and Ten­ter­den have both been hit by al­co­hol thieves.

Shoplifters have tar­geted at least half a dozen su­per­mar­kets in a se­ries of booze raids across the county.

Po­lice have now re­leased an im­age of two peo­ple they would like to speak to af­ter drink worth more than £2,000 was stolen from stores in Ash­ford, Ten­ter­den, Maid­stone, Sevenoaks, Tun­bridge Wells and West Malling.

In both Ash­ford and Ten­ter­den, it was Waitrose stores, in Sir Bernard Paget Av­enue and Say­ers Lane re­spec­tively, that were hit.

All the thefts are thought to have taken place between Wed­nes­day, July 23 and Satur­day, Au­gust 9.

Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion from any­one who may recog­nise the man and woman shown in the pho­to­graph.

PC Nuri Sadik said: “Th­ese thefts have in­volved ex­pen­sive al­co­holic drinks in­clud­ing whiskies, vod­kas and brandies.

“The crimes stretch across a large area of the county so we are hope­ful some­body will come for­ward and help us.”
