Hat’s the way to do it!

-

Knitters at a drop-in centre in Ashford have made an incredible 4,000 hats for The Big Knit.

The national charity Age UK has partnered up with drinks manufacturer innocent for the last 10 years for the fundraising campaign.

And last Saturday, members and friends joined forces at the Joe Fagg Pop In Centre, in St John’s Lane, alongside Ashford’s Vicarage Lane car park, to show off some of their handiwork.

The finished little hats, are placed on the tops of innocent smoothie bottles, when they go on sale in shops and supermarkets. For each one sold innocent donates 25p to Age UK.

The money raised through The innocent smoothie bottles wearing woolly hats, made for The Big Knit the Big Knit supports Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign, which provides older people with vital services to help them survive in the cold – such as warm meals and visits.

Saturday saw the knitters get creative, creating designs ranging from regular woolly hats to those in the shape of a snowman.
