Brave souls take plunge in aid of good causes

Fifty brave fundraiser­s beat the drop for charity at the KM Charity Team’s abseil challenge on Saturday.

Around £5,000 was raised for 38 good causes when participan­ts took the plunge from the Premier Inn building in Canterbury.

The participan­ts included Paula Brown of Ashford who abseiled in aid of Headway East Kent, the brain injury charity.

The biggest individual fundraiser was Suki Calder of Sittingbou­rne who brought in £1,075 for the Kent MS Therapy Centre and won VIP panto tickets for the Marlowe Theatre’s production of Aladdin.

The event was organised by the KM’s charity department and supported by Miles and Barr estate agent, Pizza Hut, Evolution Production­s and Over the Edge Adventures.

Challenges include the Maidstone abseil in March, KM Big Bike Ride in April, KM Charity Walk in June, KM Dragon Boat Race in July and KM Assault Course Challenge in October.
