It was a case of one in and one out at Ashford United last week. Loan striker Connor Coyne from Folkestone has moved to Invicta’s Ryman League, Division 1 South rivals Whitstable on a similar basis, while United have brought in Charlie Dickens from Ramsgate on loan. The teenage defender featured in the 3-2 Macron League Challenge Cup first round defeat at home to Deal on Saturday. The 17-year-old joined Rams in March and made his league debut for the Thanet club in the final game of last season. Dickens, who lives in Ashford, is a product of the Soccer Elite Football Academy and also played for Maidstone United under-18s last season. Ashford’s FA Vase campaign starts with a second round trip to Hassocks later this month, following the draw made on Monday. The Sussex County Division 1 side put out another Southern Counties East League side Corinthian, 3-1 at home on Saturday but are struggling in the league, having won only two of the 13 games to date this season and are fourth from bottom. The clubs have met before in Sussex, Hassocks winning 3-2 in an FA Cup tie in season 2001/2 when Tim Thorogood was in charge at Homelands. The tie takes place on Saturday, November 22. Meanwhile, striker Andy Irvine returned to the side as substitute against Deal, his first game for several weeks following a break away from the game due to work commitments. United visit Cray Valley (PM) on Saturday in Southern Counties East, looking to end a run of six league and cup games without a win.
