Com­mu­nity fund for lo­cal groups

A wa­ter com­pany is of­fer­ing good causes the chance to ap­ply for cash awards.

South East Wa­ter’s Com­mu­nity Chest has £30,000 to share be­tween wor­thy groups. It is open to com­mu­nity groups, char­i­ties and not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions in Kent to ap­ply for do­na­tions of any­thing from a few pounds up to £2,500.

Now in its fourth year, the fund has al­ready awarded £90,000 to good causes in the wa­ter com­pany’s sup­ply area for a range of projects in­clud­ing pur­chas­ing wa­ter bot­tles for pri­mary school pupils and help­ing grow lo­cal com­mu­nity al­lot­ments.

Jo Os­born, head of com­mu­ni­ca­tions at South East Wa­ter, said: “We are com­mit­ted to sup­port­ing our neigh­bour­hoods, and our Com­mu­nity Chest fund will again help good causes need­ing a fi­nan­cial boost to de­velop projects that can make a dif­fer­ence.”

All re­quests for fund­ing need to be sub­mit­ted by mid­night on Oc­to­ber 31.
