Soggy dogs proved they would not be beaten by the weather as they braved the rain for a charity dog show.

Despite the downpours, local supporters raised more than £1,200 for Guide Dogs at the annual Companion Show at Willesborough Windmill on Bank Holiday Monday.

Ashford branch organiser Stephen Fryer said: “We have people who come every single year and this year, despite the rain, they did not let us down.

“This year people were calling the morning of the show and trying to get in touch to find out if it was still on because the weather was so awful, but they still came out and supported us, which is just great.

“Unfortunately it meant we didn’t have the general public just pop by, but we had some really wonderful people and their dogs.

“Given the weather, we are delighted with how it went and what we raised.”

Best in show went to Colin Healey’s prized dalmatian Shula.
