MP visits dementia cafe
MP Damian Green visited people with dementia and Alzheimer’s at the Ashford Memory Cafe to talk with them about living with the disease.
Mr Green joined the group at the cafe at St Teresa’s Church on Maidstone Road last Wednesday, to talk about the Alzheimer’s Society and what could be done to support the 1,595 people in the borough with dementia.
Jackie Swapp, Alzheimer’s Society operations manager for Kent, said: “Alzheimer’s Society’s dementia cafes can really help improve people’s quality of life, giving people with the condition and their carers the opportunity to socialise with others in similar situations and receive vital support. They are also a great source of information and guidance that can help people to live well with the condition.”
Mr Green said: “It was great to meet the group at St Teresa’s Church, not just to hear of the good work done by the Alzheimer’s Society in Ashford but to learn what else is required to make Ashford a dementia-friendly town.”
