Scrum down for real ale and music
Trout Pout, Torpedo and Funky Monkey were among the striking names of the 30 real ales on offer at Ashford Rugby Club’s annual beer festival.
The event at the club in Kinneys Lane, Kennington on Friday and Saturday also had live music and two rugby matches.
The ales included light summer bitters and strong, dark ales.
There was also a cocktail bar with a range of drinks including Sex on the Pitch and Blueberry Bosh.
The rugby games, on the second day, were between the President’s Elect 15 and the Prodigals and a Shepherd Neame Kent Shield 1st round game between Ashford’s first XV and Folkestone.
More than 10 bands were booked including the Friday night headliners Slam Cartel plus Salvation Jayne, the Polytones, Where’s Brian? and Old Town Souls.
The event also included food stalls, a bouncy castle and fairground attractions such as bumper cars.
This was the 13th annual festival and was originally conceived in 2001 by the late Chris Akers, a former 4th team captain.
