Praise for passers-by and emergency services
The Websters are keen to thank the unknown passers-by who helped them at the scene of the crash.
“We were stuck for 35 minutes and our car caught fire,” said Mark Webster. “A motorcyclist got a fire extinguisher to put the flames out and was trying to flag down other vehicles.
“We want to thank those who stopped to help. We don’t know who they are but they made a real difference.”
Among those who stopped were a couple from Tenterden and an off-duty ambulance person.
There was also a girl who was talking to Mr Webster after he had been freed while fire crews were trying to cut his wife out of the wreckage.
Mrs Webster said: “They do not realise what a difference they made to get us through it. They stopped to help someone they did not know.”
The couple praised the emergency services.
“They were fantastic,” said Mrs Webster. “I was conscious all the time until they gave me something to knock me out. Because I was in shock, I thought I would have my leg put in a cast and be home later that day.”
The Websters encouraged people to donate money to the Kent Air Ambulance.
