Ashford Borough Council is enlisting two local contractors for work in the commercial quarter development.

Quinn Estates Managers and George Wilson Holdings have been in partnership for 10 years and have worked on a number of projects in Kent.

Council leader Cllr Gerry Clarkson said he hoped the contractors could help transform the development site near the Ashford International Station.

He said it would be “a dynamic, new, main business hub, stimulating major investment opportunities and creating several hundred jobs.”

The council bought International House last year and has been working on a new layout for Dover Place, which is due for completion soon.

Mr Clarkson said: “This will create a sense of place, forming an attractive walk into the town centre passing the open square of the commercial quarter and give a first-class impression of Ashford.”

Work on the Commercial Quarter is anticipated to start in the spring of 2016 and to take 18 months.
