CounCillor slams government idea
A proposal for as many as 1,000 more spaces at the STOP24 services in Westenhanger, off junction 11 of the M20, is part of the government’s master plan.
But Shepway council leader Cllr David Monk says this is a misconceived idea.
He has previously slammed the plans and this week said he continued to oppose them and would carry on fighting for the interests of Shepway residents.
Cllr Monk says the plans for the increased capacity at Westenhanger would ruin employment opportunities in the district while causing untold traffic chaos for areas like Hythe with an estimated 3,000 lorries coming and going.
