Jack­son misses out on GB de­but

Tom Jack­son missed out on com­pet­ing in the Euro­pean Event­ing Cham­pi­onships at Blair Castle in Perthshire last week af­ter his horse Waltham Fid­dlers Find suf­fered an in­jury. The 22-year-old from Bethers­den had been called up to rep­re­sent Great Bri­tain for the first time. The team went on to win a sil­ver medal, fin­ish­ing run­ners-up be­hind win­ners Ger­many. Jack­son said: “It was a bit gut­ting to miss out but thank­fully the prob­lem which oc­curred in his last com­pe­ti­tion was picked up early and he will now have a rest.” “The se­lec­tors have a lot of faith in him and if my ca­reer goes the way I want it to, there will be other op­por­tu­ni­ties in the fu­ture.” Mean­while, Jack­son is pre­par­ing for a busy Oc­to­ber, with three com­pe­ti­tions. He plans to take five horses to com­pete in the Na­tional Young Riders Cham­pi­onship near Work­sop in Not­ting­hamshire, fol­lowed by a trip to France for the World Young Horse Cham­pi­onships. He will end the sea­son with an in­ter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion in Som­er­set.
