Jackson misses out on GB debut
Tom Jackson missed out on competing in the European Eventing Championships at Blair Castle in Perthshire last week after his horse Waltham Fiddlers Find suffered an injury. The 22-year-old from Bethersden had been called up to represent Great Britain for the first time. The team went on to win a silver medal, finishing runners-up behind winners Germany. Jackson said: “It was a bit gutting to miss out but thankfully the problem which occurred in his last competition was picked up early and he will now have a rest.” “The selectors have a lot of faith in him and if my career goes the way I want it to, there will be other opportunities in the future.” Meanwhile, Jackson is preparing for a busy October, with three competitions. He plans to take five horses to compete in the National Young Riders Championship near Worksop in Nottinghamshire, followed by a trip to France for the World Young Horse Championships. He will end the season with an international competition in Somerset.
