How spiffing! Dapper riders to roar by
Dapper motorcyclists will ride together through Ashford this weekend in support of prostate cancer charities.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is a global movement, sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles, which encourages bikers to don their Sunday best and travel in convey to one location.
Founded in 2012 in Australia, the event has grown rapidly in popularity as it aims to shake off the somewhat negative reputation of biker meets, while raising money for an important cause.
This year, 30,000 riders from 400 cities across the world are expected to take part.
There are three starting points for the Kent ride, with the Ashford team departing from Laguna Triumph, in Ashford Road, Kingsnorth, at 10.30am.
Other riders will leave from Maidstone and the Chatham Dockside, before all meeting together at The White Horse pub in Bearsted, near Maidstone.
Rick Cawley, UK general manager at Triumph, said: “Kent’s ride will be an excellent day – bringing together loads of riders from across the region for what’s sure to be a memorable occasion.
“If last year’s outfits are anything to go by, it will certainly be a spectacle for anyone who happens to pass, so keep your eyes out, although they’ll be hard to miss.”
“In addition to being a fun and inclusive event, the DGR raises valuable funds to fight prostate cancer.”
