I would like to the fig­ures given by Mr Dance. He states that the av­er­age pre­cept is skewed down­ward by small coun­cils. The sec­ond high­est pre­cept levied in Ash­ford is that of Ap­ple­dore Parish Coun­cil, with just 326 Band D equiv­a­lent house­holds. There is no re­la­tion­ship be­tween the size of a lo­cal coun­cil and the pre­cept it charges.

He in­di­cates that coun­cils in densely pop­u­lated ar­eas at­tract greater de­mands than ru­ral parishes, and states that a re­al­is­tic charge is £50 to £100. The
