They’re celebrating in style
Great Chart & Godinton was among WI groups taking part in events to celebrate the organisation’s centenary.
Last Wednesday – the actual 100th anniversary date of the first WI meeting in the UK – the group’s members celebrated in posh frocks and hats with champagne, strawberries and cakes at their meeting in Godinton Village Hall.
After a rousing chorus of Jerusalem, members played pass the parcel with some challenging forfeits on the way together with some very competitive card games before ending their meeting with a raffle.
On Saturday, September 12, group members also marked the centenary by treating residents of Loudon Court on the Godinton Park estate to a musical feast with a cream tea and cakes accompanied by accordion music provided by Michelle McDermott. A great time was had by all and the residents enjoyed singing along to their favourite tunes.
