Firefighters presented with awards
Thirteen firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) are set to receive their Long Service and Good Conduct Medals from by The Vice Lord Lieutenant, Richard Oldfield at a special presentation in Maidstone next Tuesday.
The medal is issued by Royal Warrant on behalf of the Queen and is only presented to those with at least 20 years of exemplary service and following a recommendation from the KFRS chief executive Ann Millington.
Those receiving the award include firefighter Justin Venes, who is based at Ashford fire station on the Henwood estate.
Ann Millington said: “I extend my sincere congratulations and heartfelt thanks to those receiving their medals.
“Our firefighters are incredibly committed and talented people, they do a fantastic job often under the most challenging and arduous of conditions but they do it with humility and dignity and it is an honour to be able to recognise them in this way.
“I am extremely proud of all those receiving awards and would like to express my thanks, not just to them but also to their families for the support they give behind the scenes.”
