Setting out their stall

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Wi Celebrates Centenary -

WI members showed the variety of activities they get up to at an exhibition in Tenterden Town Hall.

The six groups in the Tenterden district – Tenterden, Tenterden Glebe, High Halden, Rolvenden, St Michael’s and Headcorn – each had a stall on Friday.

Cynthia Crowley , who has been a WI member for 53 years and belongs to Rolvenden, said: “As well as marking the 100th anniversary, we hoped to get a few people interested in joining.

“Each WI had a table to show what they do. There were lace making and knitting demonstrations and craft work.

“Some WIs do drama and others play board games – every WI is different so anyone can find something they enjoy doing.”

Also on show were details of courses at the WI’s own college and at the county federation.
