Vote for your favourite Ken­tish food

Pro­duced in Kent’s Taste of Kent Awards 2016 are now in full swing, with the public vot­ing of­fi­cially open­ing last week.

The awards, now in their 12th year, show­case the county’s finest food and drink prod­ucts and pro­vide res­i­dents with a unique op­por­tu­nity to have their say and vote for their favourite pro­duc­ers, re­tail­ers, restau­rants, din­ing pubs and farm­ers’ mar­kets.

This year it is ex­pected more than 16,000 votes will be cast, as the awards have grown year on year in pop­u­lar­ity and sup­port. The awards to be voted for by the public are the best butcher’s shop, beer, wine, cider, juice pro­ducer, lo­cal food re­tailer, fish­mon­ger, food pro­ducer.

Other awards, not open for public vot­ing, are for best food prod­uct, a coun­try­side award for farm­ers, cherry and soft fruit and top fruit.

The awards pre­sen­ta­tion din­ner will take place in March 2016 at the Kent Event Cen­tre, Detling.
