Ash­ford Rail were win­ners and run­ners-up in the Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Rail­way Clubs’ com­pe­ti­tion at Southamp­ton on Satur­day Bob Rand, Dennis Gibbs and Dud­ley Bryant were the win­ning trio, with Mary and Tony For­tune and Ge­orge Coles sec­ond. Rail fielded five of the 13 teams tak­ing part.

In club matches, Rail beat Chislet 156-70 in a six-rink mixed triples on Sun­day. Five men’s and one ladies were played, with Rail win­ning all of them.

Lead Pauline An­drews, Graham Wil­liams and skip Ian Larkin were the best win­ning rink – 34-5.

Rail’s men won 88-86 against River in a five-rink triples on Satur­day, while the ladies lost 29-11

Ham­street’s Dave Raggett won the Club Cham­pi­onship, men’s sin­gles and Two-Wood on Fi­nals Day. Denise Ross­ing­ton won the ladies’ sin­gles.

Other win­ners: Robin Col­lick (hand­i­cap) and Long­cluse (three sets), Michael Bro­gan (yard­stick) and Dot Ser­vante (100 up).
