Ashford take winning honours
Ashford Rail were winners and runners-up in the National Association of Railway Clubs’ competition at Southampton on Saturday Bob Rand, Dennis Gibbs and Dudley Bryant were the winning trio, with Mary and Tony Fortune and George Coles second. Rail fielded five of the 13 teams taking part.
In club matches, Rail beat Chislet 156-70 in a six-rink mixed triples on Sunday. Five men’s and one ladies were played, with Rail winning all of them.
Lead Pauline Andrews, Graham Williams and skip Ian Larkin were the best winning rink – 34-5.
Rail’s men won 88-86 against River in a five-rink triples on Saturday, while the ladies lost 29-11
Hamstreet’s Dave Raggett won the Club Championship, men’s singles and Two-Wood on Finals Day. Denise Rossington won the ladies’ singles.
Other winners: Robin Collick (handicap) and Longcluse (three sets), Michael Brogan (yardstick) and Dot Servante (100 up).
