Celebrations at club’s dinner
Tenterden Cricket Club celebrated their promotion to the Shepherd Neame Kent League, Premier Division for the first time with a dinner at London Beach Hotel on Saturday, Skipper Tevis Knight won the batting award with 547 runs, wicketkeeper Ben Price – the top League stumper with 33 dismissals – took the fielding prize and Tom Richards claimed the bowling award after topping the Division 1 standings with 39 wickets. South African Leus Du Plooy was top scorer with 775 runs averaging 80 but overseas players are not eligible for the award. Du Plooy was unble to be there but pre-recorded a message to his team-mates via Skype. Knight said: “We must thank everyone at London beach for hosting the evening. Meanwhile Tenterden are already planning ahead, after going up as runners-up, following a last-day win at Whitstable earlier this month.
