Colleagues hoping they can handle the heat for hospice
Brave co-workers are preparing to face the flames in aid of the Pilgrims Hospice.
Six colleagues from Holiday Extras, based near Hythe, will walk barefoot walk over red-hot embers of 800 degrees for the charity’s Firewalk fundraiser.
They are hoping to raise £1,000 for the hospice, which provides end-of-life care at its branches in Ashford, Thanet and Canterbury.
Anouk Agussol, head of people for Holiday Extras, said: “The hospice is a cause that is close to so many people’s hearts.
“We do everything we can to support Pilgrims because it has been there for many of us when we have lost someone.
“They really offer amazing care for local families who need it.”
The Firewalk will be held on Friday, March 4, at the firm’s grounds in Newingreen.
The evening starts with a two- hour interactive training seminar with renowned motivational speaker and firewalking expert Cliff Mann, who has safely guided thousands of people through this experience.
The supporters will then head outside to for the walk, while friends and family gather around for support.
“We’re all really looking forward to the day,” adds Anouk.
“I’m an active person and a bit of an adrenaline junkie so I have done skydives and lots of other challenges and this is something different that’s always been on my bucket list – it’s a great way to get people involved.”
Entry is £20 per person. To take part email Robert.grew@Pilgrimshospices.org or visit www.pilgrimshospices.org.
