TenanTs offered ‘favourable leases’
A spokesman for McArthurGlen, which runs the outlet, which is due to double in size this year, also confirmed the news.
They said: “Next has decided to close its store at Ashford Designer Outlet.
“We are working with Next to help the staff they currently employ in Ashford to explore opportunities with other employers within the centre.
“Next has been a popular brand with shoppers since the store launched and has been a valued partner in our promotion of the shopping centre and events over the years.”
When asked if the store was leaving because of the rise in rent prices, the spokesman said: “Ashford Designer Outlet is committed to offering tenants favourable leases for trading at the centre.”
In addition, they say they were “in discussions with leading retailers across fashion, lifestyle and home” to find a replacement operator for the unit, which is located close to the centre’s food court.
