Do we need so many restaurants?

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Points Of View -

I read your story about the application for a restaurant, cafe, bars in the ground floor of Trafalgar House (Developer’s Plan For Three New Restaurants, KE, January 28).

I’ve heard of giving people options, but eight restaurants in the proposed and nearby Elwick Square development, then more in the Trafalgar House space? Have developers run out of ideas? How about turning the building from the former Ashford Tile Centre and Tiny Tots baby shop into an ice skating rink or a roller skating space? It would be ideal for all ages, would keep people fit and would fit in with the Elwick Place development.

People could then park on the Elwick site and use the restaurants after skating, and as there is going to be a new college at the other end of Elwick Road with lots of young people studying there, I’m sure they would love to use it. Freddie Clements, Ashford
