‘Lots of progress is taking place’
Sevington Mill is owned by Veecare Homes, which runs five other care homes in the county, including one in Herne Bay and another in Whitstable.
Jane Yuill, who has recently taken over as Sevington Mill’s new manager, declined to comment on the CQC report.
However a spokesman for Veecare Homes said: “We have apologised to our residents and their families.
“Since Veecare took over in October 2014 lots of improvements to the home were made. Action plans from the previous inspection were implemented but the home manager failed to sustain the action plan.
“As a result, the home has not met the standards that Veecare & CQC, had expected. We now have a new manager in place, who has 30 years’ experience in care. She is making lots of progress and we are confident that with her approach and leadership the home will be turned around fairly soon.
“Residents, relatives and staff have been assured that we will continue to monitor Sevington Mill very closely to make sure that the improvements made are maintained.”
