Rod Archibald shrugged off a mechanical problem as Adalta Cycling Club riders raced in the Essex Winter League series at Hog Hill in Redbridge on Saturday. Archibald had an unfortunate race, his gears locking at a crucial point as he made it into a key break at the top. He managed to get himself back into the main group but the breakaway riders had already gone. He eventually finished 12th. Craig Joy finished seventh in the chasing bunch. Ross Bryan held the pace, working hard to finish 15th, despite feeling under par. Jamie Davies-Evans continued his good progress in the Imperial Winter Series 7 at Hillingdon. He is using the early season races to give him some momentum heading into the spring.
