Wel­come ar­rival from train firm

Vol­un­teers from the Cen­tral Ash­ford Com­mu­nity Fo­rum were pre­sented with a cheque for £1,000 by rail firm Hi­tachi.

De­pot fleet man­ager Nigel King and com­mu­nity re­la­tions man­ager Sue Billing­ton vis­ited the com­mu­nity fo­rum to hand over the money.

The com­pany opened its de­pot in Ash­ford 10 years ago to ser­vice the Javelin high speed trains which now op­er­ate in Kent. Com­mu­nity fo­rum co-chair­man Jo Jow­ers said: “We were de­lighted to re­ceive this gen­er­ous sup­port from Hi­tachi. We in­tend to spend it on projects to boost the qual­ity of life for the com­mu­nity in cen­tral Ash­ford.”
