Helicopter called in hunt for suspects

A police hunt involving an aer- ial search led to the arrest of two men.

Officers were called to Nickley Wood Road, in Shadoxhurs­t, at 9.46pm last Wednesday to reports that a group of people had broken into a home.

The offenders had fled the scene and the police helicopter was called in to help search the area.

Three men were caught and arrested in connection to the incident, and were held in custody.

Fabian Dorson, 35, from London, was charged with possessing a firearm, aggravated burglary and assault.

He was remanded and is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on March 11.

A 33-year-old man from Larkfield and a 21-year-old man from Maidstone were both arrested on suspicion of burglary and both bailed until Wednesday, May 4.

A spokesman said: “Police were called to a reported burglary in Shadoxhurs­t, at 9.46pm on Wednesday, February 10.

“It was reported that a number of offenders had fled the scene and the National Police Air Service helicopter assisted in a search of the local area.”

The burglary was the second incident in Ashford that night which called for the help of the police helicopter.

The aircraft was spotted circling the town following calls from residents in Loudon Way on Ashford’s Godinton Park estate that a man was damaging cars at around 8pm.

The man reportedly left the scene on a bicycle.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended to make inquiries, and the National Police Air Service helicopter was dispatched to assist with a search for the man.

“The man has not been located and inquiries are ongoing.”
