Cricket club has pitch with a view
One of Kent’s most picturesque cricket clubs near Ashford is looking for new players ahead of the coming season.
Wye Cricket Club, in Cherry Garden Lane at the foot of the Kent Downs overlooking the historic Wye Crown, is a friendly club with three adult weekend sides and a junior section.
The Saturday first XI play in the Kent Regional League 1A East and the second team play friendlies.
The Sunday XI won the Kent Village League Division 3 title last year and will take their place in division 2 in 2016.
Qualified coaches run junior coaching for year 2 to year 8 children on Sunday mornings from May to July.
Club secretary Richard Elgar said: “Wye CC would like to hear from you if you are interested in joining our club. We welcome all ages and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or a former player looking to get back into cricket we can offer you a chance to play in league cricket or just to have some fun in a friendly.”
The club has a pavilion with a bar.
Winter nets start on Monday, February 29 at 8.30pm at Norton Knatchbull School, Ashford.
