Girls through to national final
Ashford under-15 girls scored eight tries in their 56-26 win over Aylesford Bulls in the RFU South East Cup final at Kinneys Field on Sunday.
They will now face the South West winners in the national final.
Maia Daw scored three tries and also boasted a 100% conversion rate to score a total of 31 points, with Sienna Farrance adding three more and Tabby Antoine two.
Coach Liz Ashby said: “I am proud of everyone. We were the better team and played in the true spirit of the game.
“We played well as a team not just as individuals and everything they have practised in training came together.
“They showed
plenty
of heart and proved they are a force to be reckoned with as we move on to the nationals.”
Ashford, fielding only 11 players due to injuries, led 21-19 at half-time before winning the second half trycount five-one.
Poppy James went off before the end with a blood injury
Bluebell Cotton, Charlotte Williams, Ellie Davies, Freya Parrish, Tabby Antoine, Maia Daw, Poppy James, Sienna Farrance, Sian Wharton, Jackie Sellens and Abbie Holdcroft.
Jackie Hopkins and Chloe Smith were both unable to play because of injury but were there to cheer on their team-mates.
