More than 300 children took part in a Race For Life event at East Stour Primary School last Wednesday.

Margaret Steward, head teacher, said pupils, families and staff became ‘running heroes’ as they raised cash for Cancer Research UK, completing a five-kilometer course.

She said: “They ran, walked and some pushed buggies around the field 20 times.

“Many of our families ran for loved ones and I couldn’t have been prouder of everyone who took part.

“This is the second year we have run this event and we look forward to hearing how much has been raised.”

She added: “A special thanks to Julie Steele, without her desire to help this event wouldn’t have got off of the ground.”
