Fairgoers can win top prizes
Villagers and visitors can win plenty of big prizes at two summer fairs in Boughton Aluph and Kennington.
The Boughton Lees Pleasure Fayre arrives on the village green on Saturday, June 11 from 1pm onwards, with prizes including West End theatre tickets and hospitality for Matilda. Prizes have also been donated by Turloo Parrett from Eastwell Manor for the grand draw. There will be a talent contest and a fancy dress competition for children based on the theme of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
It will also include performances from theTowers School cheerleaders.
Meanwhile Kennington Summer Fayre will recall the Second World War victory celebrations with a special 1940s fancy dress theme and prizes for the best costumes.
It will take place on Saturday, June 25 from noon until 4pm at the recreation ground in Ulley Road. The Dreamdragons theatre group will perform a Dad’s Army sketch and Downs View Infant School choir will sing, with all proceeds going to local voluntary organisations.
