Fair­go­ers can win top prizes

Vil­lagers and vis­i­tors can win plenty of big prizes at two sum­mer fairs in Boughton Aluph and Ken­ning­ton.

The Boughton Lees Plea­sure Fayre ar­rives on the vil­lage green on Satur­day, June 11 from 1pm on­wards, with prizes in­clud­ing West End theatre tick­ets and hos­pi­tal­ity for Matilda. Prizes have also been do­nated by Tur­loo Par­rett from East­well Manor for the grand draw. There will be a tal­ent con­test and a fancy dress com­pe­ti­tion for chil­dren based on the theme of the Queen’s 90th birth­day.

It will also in­clude per­for­mances from theTow­ers School cheer­lead­ers.

Mean­while Ken­ning­ton Sum­mer Fayre will re­call the Sec­ond World War vic­tory cel­e­bra­tions with a spe­cial 1940s fancy dress theme and prizes for the best cos­tumes.

It will take place on Satur­day, June 25 from noon un­til 4pm at the recre­ation ground in Ul­ley Road. The Dream­drag­ons theatre group will per­form a Dad’s Army sketch and Downs View In­fant School choir will sing, with all pro­ceeds go­ing to lo­cal vol­un­tary or­gan­i­sa­tions.
