Vil­lage needs ho­tel, not a cof­fee shop

I note that Costa Cof­fee`s plan­ning ap­pli­ca­tion does not in­clude pro­pos­als for the up­stairs ho­tel ac­com­mo­da­tion.

With a large cre­ma­to­rium lo­cally, overnight ac­com­mo­da­tion is needed for mourn­ers trav­el­ling long dis­tances. There were also reg­u­lar guests break­ing their jour­neys from the EU to the West Coun­try, as well as tourists walk­ing the Pil­grims Way.

All th­ese peo­ple reg­u­larly spent time and money in the lo­cal shops, so we don’t need Costa to pre­tend they can bring vi­brancy to our vil­lage.

A pub with good ac­com­mo­da­tion is es­sen­tial and all the talk about it not be­ing sup­ported by the lo­cal res­i­dents has more to do with the last two ten­ants not El­iz­a­beth Mary Tweed, Char­ing
