Whole raft of reasons for race on canal
It may look as if they are simply messing about in boats but participants for the St Rumwold’s Raft Race will be taking things very seriously.
The Royal Military Canal in Bonnington will be the scene of the action from about 1pm on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19, when teams will dress up in funny costumes and take to the water in home-made rafts to raise money for St Rumwold’s church and the Fireman’s Benevolent Society.
The biennial evening raised over £3,800 two years ago and organisers hope for more.
Promoter Sally Newall said: “It is a great spectacle in aid of some important local causes.”
