Football’s big names back to play
Football fans can see former retired Premier League stars such as Jimmy Bullard and Match of the Day pundit Trevor Sinclair in Maidstone on Sunday.
They are supporting a charity match that’s being organised by Ashford’s Gary Kirton who organises charity fundraisers across the county.
The game will see the gate receipts from fans at the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone donated to Cancer Research UK and Pilgrims Hospices.
Former player Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, right, from Ashford will also be taking part.
Other big names to take part include Dean Windass, Micky Hazard and Ossie Ardiles, right, who will be on hand for a postmatch presentation.
Mr Kirton said he hopes the positive vibes of Maidstone United’s recent promotion will help create a great atmosphere on the day as team manager Jay Saunders will also take to the field.
He added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to congratulate Jay and the boys for their amazing achievement with some big name pros also showing their approval.
“It will be a fantastic family day out and will benefit our two chosen charities as well as Maidstone United FC.”
Jay Saunders and the Maidstone team will complete a lap of honour before the 2pm kick off.
