Foot­ball’s big names back to play

Foot­ball fans can see for­mer re­tired Pre­mier League stars such as Jimmy Bullard and Match of the Day pun­dit Trevor Sin­clair in Maid­stone on Sun­day.

They are sup­port­ing a char­ity match that’s be­ing or­gan­ised by Ash­ford’s Gary Kir­ton who or­gan­ises char­ity fundrais­ers across the county.

The game will see the gate re­ceipts from fans at the Gal­lagher Sta­dium in Maid­stone do­nated to Cancer Re­search UK and Pil­grims Hospices.

For­mer player Neil ‘Ra­zor’ Rud­dock, right, from Ash­ford will also be tak­ing part.

Other big names to take part in­clude Dean Win­dass, Micky Haz­ard and Ossie Ardiles, right, who will be on hand for a post­match pre­sen­ta­tion.

Mr Kir­ton said he hopes the pos­i­tive vibes of Maid­stone United’s re­cent pro­mo­tion will help cre­ate a great at­mos­phere on the day as team man­ager Jay Saun­ders will also take to the field.

He added: “This is a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity to congratulate Jay and the boys for their amaz­ing achieve­ment with some big name pros also show­ing their ap­proval.

“It will be a fan­tas­tic fam­ily day out and will ben­e­fit our two cho­sen char­i­ties as well as Maid­stone United FC.”

Jay Saun­ders and the Maid­stone team will com­plete a lap of hon­our be­fore the 2pm kick off.
