Climb to top of skyscraper
Volunteers are being sought to enter the NSPCC’s Gherkin Challenge on Sunday, June 19.
The event will be raising money to support the valuable work the children’s charity does to protect children and young people across the UK.
Participants in the Gherkin Challenge are invited climb the steps up the 38 floors of the London skyscraper, 30 St Mary Axe, more commonly known as The Gherkin.
The charity is looking for teams, families and individual ‘Gherkineers’ to undertake the challenge.
Once at the top they will be rewarded with a glass of champagne (or juice) and a spectacular 360 degree views across the capital. The event is being sponsored by gherkin makers Bennett Opie Limited.
Olivia Pumphrey from the NSPCC participation events team said: “The Gherkin Challenge is a much-loved challenge event that helps to raise money to support our services like ChildLine, so that we can be there for more children and young people across the UK, whatever their worry, whenever they need help.”
