Climb to top of sky­scraper

Vol­un­teers are be­ing sought to en­ter the NSPCC’s Gherkin Chal­lenge on Sun­day, June 19.

The event will be rais­ing money to sup­port the valu­able work the chil­dren’s char­ity does to pro­tect chil­dren and young peo­ple across the UK.

Par­tic­i­pants in the Gherkin Chal­lenge are in­vited climb the steps up the 38 floors of the Lon­don sky­scraper, 30 St Mary Axe, more com­monly known as The Gherkin.

The char­ity is look­ing for teams, fam­i­lies and in­di­vid­ual ‘Gherki­neers’ to un­der­take the chal­lenge.

Once at the top they will be re­warded with a glass of cham­pagne (or juice) and a spec­tac­u­lar 360 de­gree views across the cap­i­tal. The event is be­ing spon­sored by gherkin mak­ers Ben­nett Opie Limited.

Olivia Pumphrey from the NSPCC par­tic­i­pa­tion events team said: “The Gherkin Chal­lenge is a much-loved chal­lenge event that helps to raise money to sup­port our ser­vices like Child­Line, so that we can be there for more chil­dren and young peo­ple across the UK, what­ever their worry, when­ever they need help.”
