The parents of a former Ashford man, dubbed Britain’s worst paedophile, begged the police to take him away after he confessed to raping children.
Richard Huckle, 30, preyed on as many as 200 young children in poverty-stricken communities in South East Asia where he worked as an English teacher.
In public he kept up a facade of a philanthropic westerner to win people’s trust but boasted on the dark internet that “impoverished kids are so much easier to target than middle-class children”.
On Monday, he was jailed for life at the Old Bailey in London, where he admitted 71 charges for abusing 23 children between 2006 and 2014. He was handed 23 life sentences, to run concurrently, and must serve a minimum term of 25 years.
