19-year-old arrested over attack at house party
Police arrested a teenager after an alleged stabbing at a house party which left a man critically injured in hospital.
Officers were called to the Lakemead cul-de-sac in the Singleton area of Ashford early on Saturday morning.
They were responding to reports a man in his 30s had suffered “wounds consistent with a stabbing”.
Forensics officers were called in and the end of the street was closed behind a cordon while detectives carried out door-to-door inquiries.
The cordon remained in place all day, with neighbours suggesting a house party had gone wrong before officers were called at 5.50am.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “I heard people talking and laughing at around midnight on Friday.
“I didn’t think much of it because there is a pathway nearby and people walk home there from the pub.
“It’s quite horrifying. We’ve never had anything like that here before. This area is quiet and it’s just a normal cul-de-sac.”
The victim, in his 30s, was taken to hospital and was in a critical condition after the incident but as the Kentish Express went to print it is believed his condition had stabilised.
A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident was released on police bail until Wednesday, July 20.
