Driver fined for be­ing twice limit

An Ash­ford man has been slapped with a hefty fine for drink-driv­ing af­ter be­ing caught nearly twice the le­gal limit.

Dar­ren Nel­son Prince, 31, of Bir­ling Road, gave a breath test of 73 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol in 100 millil­itres of breath when he was caught was caught in a Honda Civic on May 11 in Os­bourne Road. The le­gal limit is 35 mi­cro­grammes.

Ap­pear­ing be­fore Can­ter­bury mag­is­trates, Prince was or­dered to pay a £350 fine, £85 costs and a £35 vic­tim sur­charge. He was banned from driv­ing for 18 months.
