Match tied after collapse
A late collapse cost Ashford Town the chance of victory as their Division 1 home game against St Lawrence & Highland Court ended in a tie. Town looked on course to get home comfortably when they were 181-2 but a flurry of wickets left them forced to chase the game, with Tim Hambridge run out off the last ball. Hambridge (70) and skipper Liam Tegg added 74 for the second wicket before the latter went for 64 but it was Simon Taylor’s dismissal (also run out for 25) that changed the game. Jack Richardson, Sam Kennett and Peter Shields were then dismissed, the latter two at the same score, before Hambridge perished, leaving them 200-7. Earlier, Tegg won the toss and put the Canterbury side in, Kennett claiming an early scalp. Wickets fell regularly before Ruaridh Macleod hit 32 at the end to help Saints reach 200-8. The 2nds (164-9) went down by eight wickets at Chislehurst & West Kent (165-2) in Division 5.
