I am pleased to see that Ash­ford Bor­ough Coun­cil (ABC) is in­tro­duc­ing war­dens to crack down on the mo­rons who find it im­pos­si­ble to use lit­ter bins or refuse to take their rub­bish home.

This ser­vice is be­ing pro­vided by a pri­vate com­pany un­der a profit shar­ing scheme with ABC.

Coun­cil leader, Gerry Clark­son boldly states that he is re­solved to pros­e­cute those who flout the rules in this lat­est crack­down. Stir­ring words in­deed but hang on, what about the pre­vi­ous three and a half years when not one pros­e­cu­tion took place? That is an ap­palling record of fail­ure which is now only be­ing cor­rected by the use of the pri­vate sec­tor.
