Badly injured motorcyclist is airlifted to London hospital
A motorcyclist was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Charing on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews, including police, the fire service and paramedics, were called to Pluckley Road at 10.45am after the smash between a motorbike and a blue Rover 25 car.
The biker, believed to be in his 40s, suffered injuries to his head, thorax, arm and leg and is in a “serious condition” in hospital.
The crash happened at the junction with The Street. Pluckley Road was shut at the junction with Charing Heath Road for more than four hours before reopening at 3pm.
Fire crews were called to deal with a fuel spillage on the road and make the scene safe.
A SECAmb spokesman said: “We responded with two cars and an ambulance to a collision. The rider, a man in his 40s, was unconscious and was taken by the air ambulance to St George’s Hospital, in London.”
Police investigating the crash are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
