Po­lice hunt two sus­pects af­ter al­ley­way rob­bery

De­tec­tives are hunt­ing two men in con­nec­tion with a town cen­tre rob­bery.

The pair are wanted af­ter a man was pushed to the ground, at­tacked and had his phone, watch and cash stolen.

Of­fi­cers have now re­leased a CCTV im­age of the men.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened in Ash­ford on May 15 but the ap­peal was is­sued last Fri­day af­ter re­view­ing foren­sic ev­i­dence and CCTV.

The vic­tim was walk­ing through the al­ley­way from El­wick Road which runs through Vic­to­ria Park to Jem­mett Road.

A po­lice spokesman said: “The vic­tim told po­lice he first no­ticed two men sit­ting on concrete bol- lards, op­po­site the en­trance to a road bridge from El­wick Road at around 3.30am.

“It is al­leged they ap­proached him and of­fered him drugs and af­ter the vic­tim re­fused he was chased and pushed to the ground.”

The vic­tim was then struck sev­eral times be­fore the sus­pects left with his phone and Hugo Boss watch.

He suf­fered a split lip and some other mi­nor in­juries.

The men are de­scribed as be­ing white and pos­si­bly East­ern European. They were of medium height, slim build and wore dark cloth­ing.
