The Queen’s 90th was not the only birthday Kennington CE Academy celebrated last week.

Former pupil Phyllis Stace attended the school’s special tea party as a guest of honour on Friday, June 17 – having just turned 101.

Mrs Stace, who celebrated her birthday on June 9, was presented with a card signed by all teachers and pupils at the school.

Queen Elizabeth II herself was also recognised on the big day, where a royal cake competition took place and was won by pupils Sophie, Noah and Anna.

Acting head Lynn Seal presented them with their cakes, also praising Val Heath for creating the special 90th birthday cake.
