Martian pasta and Unidentified Fruity Objects (UFOs) were just some of the mouth-watering treats on offer for school children during a special space-themed dinner.

Youngsters at Towers School in Ashford, held the event in The Lunch Pad canteen to commemorate the return of Commander Tim Peake to Earth.

The Faversham Road school has been f ollowing Tim’s progress since he started his Principia mission in December; live streaming his launch into space and his space walk on screens around the school.

Year 7 students also sent video questions to Tim as part of a cosmic classroom competition.

Science teacher Claire Ward said: “It’s been lovely to hear students from all years discussing everything that Tim has been up to.

“They were particularly impressed by his presenting an Oscar and running the marathon in space.”

Ciaran Trevett, from Year 7, who contributed to some of the decorations
